Chapter 7: Eve of Battle
Hinata, Yuri, and Oyama try to return to the surface from the underground tunnels (Guild) while the "final boss" (Shiina) tries to "kill" them. On the way, the three get ready to defend themselves by choosing weapons; Hinata - a 3-meter pike, Yuri - a Medieval sword and a katana, Oyama - a flail. Yuri tells Oyama to light the path forward with the flashlight they brought with them. While they walk, Shiina mysteriously appears, attacking the three, but Yuri manages to block the fist strike. Hinata tries to stab Shiina with the pike, but she retreats back into the shadow. Oyama frantically searches for Shiina, who then appears behind them.
Hinata is able to fend her off again, but Oyama is then assaulted by her next attack. Hinata and Yuri are able to have Shiina retreat again, not before Oyama spikes himself in the back with the flail. Then they decide to focus on retreating while Hinata guarded their rear. But when they climbed to the Level above them, Oyama gets his wrist (unknown which one, presumably his right) chopped off and loses the flashlight. While Oyama looks for it, Hinata guards them, tracing Shiina's movements with the pike. Yuri then blocks a throwing knife that Shiina threw at Hinata. While lunging forward, Hinata misses, and Yuri urges him forward to the surface. The next levels of climbing felt timeless, as Hinata and Yuri defied their bodies' urge to rest.
They finally manage to get out of Guild, all of them injured in some way. When they arrive at the school, Oyama reveals his wrist reattached itself. Yuri throws the now broken swords in fatigue, only to have Shiina appear above them on the roof railing, which she gets their attention by saying "how shallow-minded". Shiina strikes at Yuri, but Angel comes to defend the tired Yuri, both Hand Sonics at her forearms. Yuri issues a retreat, smiling. Hinata wonders if Angel was part of her plan. Yuri tells them to look for Chaa and Noda. While they search, Yuri decides to establish the battlefront against God. With 4 members, she comments that is enough for the battlefront. Hinata thinks in his mind that this was what the real Yuri would do. Then Yuri tells Oyama that he no longer needs to hold the flashlight anymore, which he embarrassingly throws to the ground.
When they find Noda and Chaa, Noda is lying on the ground, beaten badly by Chaa, commenting that Chaa is just too strong for him. Yuri tells Chaa about the Shinda Sekai Sensen (Afterlife Battlefront), telling him that he and Noda are already members. Noda complains about this, first about the battle not being over, then because of his comparison of "weekness" to Chaa's "strength" and "mean personality". Oyama asks Noda why he ran away, to which Chaa replies it was because of Hinata and Yuri's "relationship", to which they deny. After a while, Noda stands up with his halberd, declaring that he will become Yuri's sword, but he winces as he realizes that the "final boss from underground" was his enemy.
As the five watch Angel's and Shiina's battle, Noda asks about Angel's blades, to which Yuri replies that it is Angel. Noda asks questions of the battle to which no one decides to answer. Yuri and Chaa comment on where the battle is going nowhere, as Angel has strength to compensate Shiina's speed, and brings it all down to endurance. Noda then makes the point of the battle not focusing on endurance as it is between an angel and a "final boss", both of which have no limit to endurance. Yuri then declares that once Shiina was recruited, the SSS would have reached its peak, and that she has become the leader to issue orders. Chaa and Noda are ordered to help Angel, to which Noda lifts up his halbeard and Chaa picks up Oyama's fallen flail. Oyama is instructed to keep track of Shiina's position until she is driven to the wall of the school.
Hinata and Yuri are on the roof, waiting for Oyama's signal. Hinata is standing in front of the rail with the two broken swords. They talk about the previous times about Yuri kicking Hinata over the railing. Hinata asks her about the plan, being just over Shiina, and Yuri tells Hinata to go just as Oyama signals with waving his arms. When Hinata finally realized it, he was kicked down... again. Falling 15 meters toward the ground, he saw through his near-closed eyes that Shiina was at where he was falling to, and through this, he falls, and the swords slice Shiina in half. Hinata did not escape pain though as he collided into the ground. Before he loses conscience, he comments that the first operation of the SSS was finished... and a success.
Hinata wakes up in the infirmary, where Yuri interrogates Shiina (who is mummified in bandages at the moment on the next bad over from Hinata), but Shiina remains silent. Oyama finds Hinata awake, who comments on his cleaving of Shiina on half. Hinata tells him not to make him remember, then learns that Shiina refuses to speak. When Yuri proposes Shiina's joining to the SSS, Shiina agrees with a nod of her head. Noda becomes appalled at the idea, to which Yuri answers with not to ask about future member's pasts. She also goes to the conclusion that members desire vengeance against God that forces their destinies onto them. Yuri then tells Shiina that Angel is the only enemy to face. Shiina then speaks, saying that she wants to rest, and then asks about what an ally is when Yuri says the SSS members will protect her. Yuri asks for her name before she would rest, but Shiina succumbs to sleep beforehand.
Yuri then proposes to make an SSS headquarters, deciding the opportune place to be the Principal's Office, and giving the Principal a seat in the staff office. Yuri decides to make an Anti-Angel trap that includes Angel to knock on the door and be flattened by the trap. She puts Noda in charge of the task. Chaa ridicules Noda, whom tries to start a fight if Oyama hadn't tried to break it up. At this moment, Hinata comes up with the term "NPC", to which Yuri says that she'll use to address the teachers and the students. In the end, Hinata says in his heart that Yuri is their leader, no matter what happens.

Chapter 6: By My Side
Hinata finds him and his companions in a difficult predicament. The mysterious girl they found after a 30-floor descent into an underground complex has launched an attack, and it is something that none of them even expected. Nonetheless, he tried to talk his way through their problem. However, a close shave from the girl's katana shocked even Yuri, and they are forced to stay back.
Yuri and Hinata argued over their next move. Yuri plans on using a surprise attack, but Hinata points out that such a move is useless against someone who can move at inhuman speeds. Yuri still launches her attack anyway, and Hinata can't do anything but try to interrupt her attacks. Although Hinata manages to keep Yuri out of harm's way, he notices that his diversionary maneuvers are causing him to move further away from Yuri.
Although hesitant at first, Hinata puts his life on the line by acting as bait for Yuri. It appears to work, as the enemy's face shows her killing intent. At that time, Hinata is convinced that they can make it out alive as long as Ooyama and the others show up in time.
Unfortunately, that moment did not come for him.
The enemy strikes her katana all over Hinata's body. Hinata did not feel any pain during the onslaught, but when Yuri finally spoke to him, he realizes that he has lost much of his body on the attack; both arms, one leg and part of his chin, to be exact. Hinata, dazed from the loss of blood, receives the last few hits from the enemy until he lost his vision.
When he regains consciousness, he feels that his body was being dragged by someone. In fact, it is Yuri, and she is speaking about them retreating. After finally realizing the extent of injuries he acquired during the mysterious girl's attacks, he listens to Yuri as she expresses her regret for what happened.
Then, Yuri falls to the ground. Hinata thinks that someone has gotten to Yuri as well. As he thinks about comforting Yuri at that moment, he slowly drifts away from consciousness...
Hinata soon finds himself in a dream. He and Yuri are on opposite sides of a swing, and Yuri is talking to him, appearing to not hear his voice. Yuri talks to him about the satisfying feeling around her, and she tells him that that feeling is all she needs. Hinata then realizes... that happiness is the thing that makes her strong, and he must do his best to smile for her sake.
Then, as Yuri tells to him that she will go over and wait for him, and as everything around him becomes a tightrope between life and death, Hinata walks towards her...
...And he holds Yuri's hand.
Hinata discovers that he can speak, and he used this to comfort Yuri. He also finds out that the limbs he lost earlier has now fully healed themselves back, and stands up, finding himself in a place where light is nowhere to be found.
Soon, he feels a painful sensation on his stomach. He is stabbed. Hinata holds on to the blade the pierced him, determined that the attacker is just in front of him, and pushed forward. In spite of his injury, he manages to take the enemy down, although his injuries worsen, and before he could lose consciousness again, Hinata puts the attacker in a headlock with his elbows.
Hinata sees himself inside another dream. This time, they are inside a giant revolving globe-like frame. Yuri invites him to join along, and there she asks him about something. Instead of saying a single word, Hinata approached her and muttered a promise to be with her...
Upon waking up from the dream, Hinata sees Chaa, Ooyama and Noda. Before answering any of the dozens of questions in his head, he asks about the enemy that had attacked him twice. He finds out from Ooyama that the attacker was not related to Angel in any way, and is just a normal human. Chaa also manages to restrain their enemy a short distance away from them.
Soon, the topic shifts to Noda's escape earlier, and there, he blames Chaa's declaration of being Yuri's husband for this decision to run away. As a commotion starts to brew, Hinata finds himself thinking of the dreams he had when he was hurt. He wonders why he was being too distant from Yuri, so he decides to close the gap at that moment.
Hinata then takes the pinwheel Yuri made at Chaa's house and blows some air onto it, causing it to turn. Yuri soon notices him and eventually agrees to play with the pinwheel she made. At that moment, Hinata is relieved to see Yuri smile.
Ooyama then interrupts their moment and things turn back to normal. He reports to Yuri that Noda has ran away again, and after Chaa went to chase after him, the mysterious girl disappeared as well. As for Ooyama, he was just watching over their rations; it warranted him a slap in the face from Yuri.
Yuri becomes frantic and runs off, and Ooyama and Hinata followed, like a slave that follows his laborer.

Chapter 5: Man-like Creatures
Inside the gymnasium, Yuri and Chaa mercilessly pound Hinata with countless spikes in a volleyball match Yuri organized. Despite Hinata's complaints about his current situation, Yuri points out that the experience is an important exercise. She is also interested to find out if the swimsuit they found in Angel's closet -- a skirted bikini that she's wearing on the match -- would give her superpowers. Hinata is not optimistic about it.
Yuri calls the match quits, and she asks Chaa about how he has obtained a gun in the afterlife. Chaa agrees to tell them, and after a change of clothes, they head off to a mountainside with Ooyama tagging along, where a large hole leading inside is located. Hinata is relcutant to head inside, but decides to join nonetheless.
Inside, Chaa leads them into a room with a simple light bulb and a chair and table occupying the room. According to Chaa, it was his sentry post and the road extends further inside. Chaa then picks up some clay blocks and fashioned it into a needle; soon it turned into something made out of iron, much to Yuri's amazement. He explains that his ability of making iron objects out of clay was discovered only by accident and the necessity to add metal nails on a house he planned to build.
Yuri is interested to learn how to make metal, and thus opens a challenge against Ooyama and Hinata to make one.
After two hours, only Yuri succeeded.
Soon, the topic shifts to how to shape clay into a gun. Chaa explains that one needs to memorize each of the many parts making up a gun, and it needs 170 hours of work to make just one gun. Yuri soon points to the door leading elsewhere and asks everyone to explore some more.
Chaa reveals to them that the place they are in extends to 22 levels underground, and even he had to quit exploring due lack of supplies. With that, Yuri assigns Hinata to get some supplies for the journey.
Hinata returns with food, drinks and flashlights. He returns to the room where Chaa demonstrated his abilities and saw an ecstatic Yuri holding on to a pinwheel she made out of clay. She then focuses to the unexlored terrain ahead and starts the journey, a long passageway that no one even Chaa knows where it exactly leads to.
A few descents after that, they hear a loud roar from a distance followed by tremors. They try to communicate, but to no avail. Chaa then decides to walk ahead and check out for himself who they are up against.
Then, they discover that someone has cut up Ooyama's limbs and he is in desperate help. Hinata tries to reconnect Ooyama's body parts with his eyes closed while Yuri negotiate with a stranger, who is restrained by Chaa. He tells them about a "dungeon boss" that he had to beat for the game to end. Yuri persuades him that it is not true -- and it worked perfectly for him. The stranger later introduces himself as Noda, and when Yuri asks him to join beating the underground boss, he agrees and breaks off from the pack.
Later on, Ooyama has recovered, but as Hinata expected, he developed scotophobia from the ordeal he faced earlier. They descended and Chaa tells them that they just reached the 27th level. Noda soon realizes that his mission and Yuri's are clashing, and Yuri is successful in making him face the truth, along with the fact that he is not the protagonist he is expecting to be. He then leaves them yet again.
Yuri ignores him and plans to move on, but is somehow disturbed by Hinata's attitude. She pointed out that he has changed since Chaa joined the group and assumes that Hinata is jealous of him; Hinata denies Yuri's accusations, but Chaa just advises him to stop being sensitive.
In one room they discovered in the 27th level, they decided to take a break and eat. As Yuri and Chaa chat talk to each other, Hinata realizes that he might be really jealous of Yuri. Soon, another thought enters his mind: the fact that they have an ally running around. He tries to tell Yuri to look for Noda, but she rejects his offer. Chaa, however, decides to support Hinata's proposal.
Hinata then decides to pair up with Chaa while Yuri goes with Ooyama go together. To him, Yuri's survival and retrieving Noda is more important. Yuri protests, and Chaa changes things around again.
After some useless chatter, Chaa and Ooyama forms a team while Yuri and Hinata goes to look for Noda.
Soon, Yuri and Hinata reach what seems like the last floor. It is a large depression made up of unpaved soil. In the middle is a girl sitting on a throne. Yuri taunts the girl -- the "final boss" -- to speak, and they are answered by the phrase "How shallow-minded". Yuri tries to converse with the girl, but aside from the remark she said earlier, she no longer spoke.
Instead, she takes off her cloak, revealing a sword, and in a flash, she lunges at the two.

Chapter 4: Cold Summer
The confrontation between Yuri and the gunman continues.
The man demanded Yuri to take revenge on Angel by killing her; Yuri points out how things work in the afterlife and he tells them that he knows about it. He also assures that he will follow Yuri's orders. The man then suggests digging a deep hole to bury Angel when they manage to kill her, a hole deep enough so that she will not be able to escape easily. However, Hinata and Ooyama realize that it would be an arduous task.
But with their backs at gunpoint, even Yuri has no choice but to follow.
Soon, they find themselves doing a contest on which of them would finish first; they later realize that they are doing things the wrong way as they are digging a hole each when they are supposed to dig just one. Soon, the three argue about which hole is to be used to continue with the digging task. In the end, Yuri's hole was chosen, despite having a diameter the size of a basketball.
As Ooyama and Hinata toil below the surface, Yuri goes to watch the armed man, who was walking around. Some time later, he manages to doze off.
The two stop working and Yuri and Hinata plan on stealing the gun from him.
On the hill where the gunman is sleeping, Yuri swipes the gun from his hand and hit his head with it, announcing that the tables are turned in their favor. However, the man is still calmly talking to them. Soon, on his hand emerges yet another gun, and gunshots were fired. Yuri is forced to retreat; with Hinata taking a shot on his shoulder, she and Hinata escape with Ooyama into the forest, where it is already dark.
On a dark patch of forest, the three discuss what happened earlier. Yuri is clearly in a state of shock after firing a gun for the first time; Ooyama is confused, while Hinata is still at pain from his injury. As Yuri is still speechless, Hinata suggests to look for the source of the guns; Yuri manages to talk back, and she insists about letting him join their side. Both Hinata and Ooyama are surprised by her proposition, but wasn't expecting the following remark from her:
"I want to challenge him to a classic duel. Mano y mano."
Hinata protested about her guts to face a person like the gunman, but instead, receives a hit from Yuri's kick. Soon, another argument rose between the two, with Ooyama becoming their mediator. Soon, Yuri adds another shocking suggestion to her plan: making Angel the judge.
Both Hinata and Ooyama are left shocked.
Hunger soon caught up with them and Hinata snatches some bread to ease their stomachs. However, another look at the environment around him was making him uneasy, as they seem vulnerable to an ambush. Yuri sternly assures him that they'll make it into the next day, and with that, they decide to rest for tomorrow.
The next day, Hinata and Ooyama return to the cafeteria to get something to eat. After that, Yuri appears to fetch them and they follow her to one classroom. There, the Student Council President sits quietly on her seat. Yuri boldly approaches and tells her demands; Angel agrees and adds that Yuri and the man she is planning to duel will sit with her while having a cup of tea if Yuri loses.
The agreement is complete, and Yuri heads off to make the invitation letter in the Calligraphy Club room. After that, she borrows a bow from the Archery Club and with that, uses an arrow to deliver the letter to the gunman.
With that, the preparations are complete.
Some time later, the time of the duel has arrived.
Yuri's enemy arrives where Hinata and Ooyama are, taking the latter hostage, and questions the presence of Angel in such an event; Hinata acts innocent about the unexpected character and threatens that whatever the gunman would do will be noticed by Yuri and Angel. The gunman quits the hostage taking and approaches Yuri, who in fact anticipates what happened earlier.
The duel soon begins, and suddenly, when they face each other for the moment to strike, Angel deflects the gunman's bullet and Yuri gets to fire hers to the enemy. Hinata and Ooyama rejoice, and although Angel wanted to proclaim her victory, she yields.
Angel then invites everyone, including the gunman, into her dormitory room, where she prepares tea as promised. The gunman then introduces himself as Chaa and he starts to tell more about why he is in the afterlife, particularly his life that seemed to end when her beloved wife left him after their promise to look for utopia made for the two of them. Yuri then assures her that he is not alone in this world, and he begins to sob.
Yuri then takes the time when Angel leaves for more tea to investigate. As she searches through Angel's closet, she finds something...
Chapter 4: Cold Summer
The confrontation between Yuri and the gunman continues.
The man demanded Yuri to take revenge on Angel by killing her; Yuri points out how things work in the afterlife and he tells them that he knows about it. He also assures that he will follow Yuri's orders. The man then suggests digging a deep hole to bury Angel when they manage to kill her, a hole deep enough so that she will not be able to escape easily. However, Hinata and Ooyama realize that it would be an arduous task.
But with their backs at gunpoint, even Yuri has no choice but to follow.
Soon, they find themselves doing a contest on which of them would finish first; they later realize that they are doing things the wrong way as they are digging a hole each when they are supposed to dig just one. Soon, the three argue about which hole is to be used to continue with the digging task. In the end, Yuri's hole was chosen, despite having a diameter the size of a basketball.
As Ooyama and Hinata toil below the surface, Yuri goes to watch the armed man, who was walking around. Some time later, he manages to doze off.
The two stop working and Yuri and Hinata plan on stealing the gun from him.
On the hill where the gunman is sleeping, Yuri swipes the gun from his hand and hit his head with it, announcing that the tables are turned in their favor. However, the man is still calmly talking to them. Soon, on his hand emerges yet another gun, and gunshots were fired. Yuri is forced to retreat; with Hinata taking a shot on his shoulder, she and Hinata escape with Ooyama into the forest, where it is already dark.
On a dark patch of forest, the three discuss what happened earlier. Yuri is clearly in a state of shock after firing a gun for the first time; Ooyama is confused, while Hinata is still at pain from his injury. As Yuri is still speechless, Hinata suggests to look for the source of the guns; Yuri manages to talk back, and she insists about letting him join their side. Both Hinata and Ooyama are surprised by her proposition, but wasn't expecting the following remark from her:
"I want to challenge him to a classic duel. Mano y mano."
Hinata protested about her guts to face a person like the gunman, but instead, receives a hit from Yuri's kick. Soon, another argument rose between the two, with Ooyama becoming their mediator. Soon, Yuri adds another shocking suggestion to her plan: making Angel the judge.
Both Hinata and Ooyama are left shocked.
Hunger soon caught up with them and Hinata snatches some bread to ease their stomachs. However, another look at the environment around him was making him uneasy, as they seem vulnerable to an ambush. Yuri sternly assures him that they'll make it into the next day, and with that, they decide to rest for tomorrow.
The next day, Hinata and Ooyama return to the cafeteria to get something to eat. After that, Yuri appears to fetch them and they follow her to one classroom. There, the Student Council President sits quietly on her seat. Yuri boldly approaches and tells her demands; Angel agrees and adds that Yuri and the man she is planning to duel will sit with her while having a cup of tea if Yuri loses.
The agreement is complete, and Yuri heads off to make the invitation letter in the Calligraphy Club room. After that, she borrows a bow from the Archery Club and with that, uses an arrow to deliver the letter to the gunman.
With that, the preparations are complete.
Some time later, the time of the duel has arrived.

Yuri then asks him to talk to Ooyama and reassure him that people don't die on this world and everything is alright; Hinata has his doubts, as he saw how Ooyama responded to Yuri's brutal actions against him earlier.
Hinata then notices that aside from the fact that Yuri's goal is to confront God, the entire process of doing it is still in the dark. He wants Yuri to have a change of attitude so that she is able to get people to help him, but she insists that she can do things on her own. Their clash of ideals became an argument, a serious argument, and it came to the point that Yuri wants to disband their partnership.
After leaving the infirmary, he finds Ooyama in a deserted tennis court.
Hinata praises Ooyama for being a cool guy, and the latter throws the compliment back as he deemed Hinata more worthy of being called cool. Ooyama then notices that Hinata is sad at that moment and it is there that Hinata tells him that he and Yuri are no longer friends--or more accurately, he was abandoned by her. With that, he decides to focus on himself, and how he could be able to move on from this world.
Soon their discussion turns from one topic to another, from Ooyama's "progress" in the afterlife, Hinata's goal, and how the afterlife is strikingly similar to a role-playing game. And, as if coming full-circle, the topic returns to Yuri.
Ooyama goes to boost Hinata's confidence to return to Yuri and help her along, and with a thumbs-up from Ooyama, Hinata runs to the rooftop, where Yuri usually stays.
She is not there.
He tries to look for Yuri around the school, and he finds her inside one classroom, surrounded by students as she rides the Student Council President. Hinata wonders if her attack against the President is partly because of his leaving her side; he then decides to stop her.
As he pushes towards the center of the commotion, a faculty member goes to restrain Yuri; she proceeds on cursing the teacher, but to no avail. The situation somewhat urged him to move, and with a swift move of his fist, he hits Yuri's captor with a punch on his jaw. Hinata then embraces Yuri, who is still fuming with anger, and endures attack upon attack inflicted by Yuri on him. He tells himself that Ooyama's "curing spell" should help him stand after her attacks.
Soon, the Student Council President goes to intervene. Yuri confronts the President, telling her about their roles, as the rebel and the moderator respectively. With that, Yuri leaves and tells Hinata to come along, dubbing the President her nickname "Angel" before leaving.
On the middle of the hallway, Ooyama waits for the two. Ooyama tries to use his "magic" to help Hinata and Yuri reveals that everything is staged and it was for him to join her side. Yuri then formally invites him to join their side, which he agrees.
Soon, everything got explained to Ooyama while they are in the middle of a tennis game. Soon, Yuri tells them of another possible ally, the same person who initiated an attack on the principal earlier, which was already at the field when they are talking about him. Upon the person's arrival, he aims his gun (loaded with bullets) to Yuri and expresses his interest at them. Yuri, however, answers with a cocky request to obey her orders.

When they entered the scene, they see a student securing an elderly-looking man in a headlock; he has a gun in his hand. The student points it at the intruders. Hinata watches as Yuri proposes a team-up with the student in front of him. At first, the student refuses to give his trust to others, but he enters a deal with Yuri: he shall agree to join her side if she takes off her clothes. Yuri strongly refuses, but the other side stays persistent. Yuri then decides to swap roles to Hinata. Hinata refuses to strip, let alone do it in front of a girl and a stranger, and a short argument erupts between the two.
Their squabble ends abruptly when the student fires a warning shot clean through the office's wall.
Hinata feels the reality of the situation and tries to negotiate with Yuri. The student threatens to fire the next shot on their heads when their verbal fight continues. Yuri tries to negotiate with the student, but it only made him more furious.
Yuri gives up the talks and orders Hinata to tackle him.
All of a sudden, they witnessed the Student Council President emerging from the door behind them, taking out the hostage taker with a stab wound on his body while she receives gun shots as well. Later, the members of the faculty move to rescue the principal while Yuri and Hinata realize that they had not done anything.
At dinner, Hinata watches as Yuri eats her udon in a quieter way compared to how she usually eats.
Hinata tries to comfort her for having failed to recruit an addition to her plans; this was answered by Yuri's usually violent remarks to Hinata, which he was relieved to have heard from her.
Soon, the topic moves back to the hostage incident earlier. Yuri remembers the "weapon" that sprouted from the Student Council President and she was puzzled about it. Hinata is also shocked to find out about the weapon's nature; Yuri then remarks that recruiting her is not feasible because she might be God herself. Yuri also explains that the afterlife, except for the tendency of the impermanence of death, the basic physics are the same as in the living world.
With that, Yuri decides that their target will be the Student Council President, as she suspects her to be God. Hinata then gets to bear the responsibility of confirming her hunch.
That night, Ooyama interrupts Hinata's moment of contemplating and offers to hear out to him.
Hinata ends up telling about Yuri and her threat of poking his eyes out with chopsticks. Ooyama felt nervous about the thought of it, and suggests him to break his relations to her. Hinata then invites him to be introduced to her, which Ooyama instantly refuses. Hinata then tells him that he has decided to be Yuri's companion despite of her violent instances.
Later, when the lights are off, and after a few attempts to fend off Ooyama, he thought of a plan.
The next day, he tells Yuri his plan to lure out the Student Council President, which consists plainly of recreating the events that had happened in the Principal's Office. Yuri, for the first time, feels pleased at his plan. That night, the plan goes into action.
They took up two days to look for the keys to the safe in the Teacher's Lounge and finally found it. Hinata takes the gun to his room and he ends up startling Ooyama with it. He tells his roommate that it was for payback whenever she tries to poke his eyes. Hinata then invites him to join them again, but he refuses again.
He feels excited at the events to unfold tomorrow, and he did not manage to sleep because of it.
The next day, they head off to the Principal's Office for the next stage of the plan. As what happened before, they put the principal in a headlock and pointed the gun into his head; Yuri acts as the leader while Hinata becomes backup. Soon, people gathered outside while Yuri yelled out her demands to the audience on the other side of the door. The principal then asks her about her real demands; after Yuri repeats her demands of luring out God, he blurts out that he has been a victim of these kinds of incidents for meny times already.
Just then, the Student Council President appears. She manages to disarm Hinata and after a threat to hurt the principal by Yuri, she inches closer to her. Yuri looks as if she was in a tight situation, and Hinata tries to fend off the Student Council President, but after a quick attack, he finds his weapon--an aluminum bat--sliced cleanly in half by the mysterious girl's blades. Yuri's voice began to show anxiety as Hinata repeatedly fails to connect an attack to the Student Council President.
The Student Council President then tells Yuri that the principal, compared to its living-world counterpart, is of little importance in the afterlife. Yuri then decides to release the principal. The Student Council President then calmly asks for the gun that Yuri used. Yuri then points it at her (despite the fact that the gun has no bullets) and threatens to shoot it at her. Then, in an instant, with the words "Hand Sonic" coming out from her mouth, the Student Council President defends herself by trying to stab Yuri. The blade, instead, pierces Hinata on the side.
As he loses consciousness, he tells Yuri that he will become a shield for her.

Yuri still is disappointed to see the gun she used being destroyed by the Student Council President's attack. She then invites Hinata to a late dinner over at the cafeteria.
As they proceed on eating their respective dishes for dinner (curry with natto for Hinata and steak udon for Yuri), she and Hinata discuss again about the Student Council President's powers. Yuri explains that her powers are "bestowed by God" while Hinata listens, clearly confused and being treated like a stranger by Yuri. Hinata then describes the Student Council President as "like an angel (servant of God)". Yuri likes the idea.
Yuri proposes again that they think of ways to destroy the order that the Student Council President, as an angel, is protecting. Hinata, like always, ends up thinking of how to do it.
That night, Hinata is welcomed by Ooyama, who is again startled by what he experienced that day. Hinata also gives Ooyama some natto that he ended up not eating because of Yuri's protests. He discovered that Ooyama likes it very much and, expecting that Ooyama is an NPC, awaits for an item as a reward.
Soon, Ooyama becomes puzzled at how Hinata compares the afterlife to a game. This surprises Hinata, who is starting to realize that Ooyama is not an NPC but a real human like himself who knows that he is dead.

Chapter 1: A Rocket for Two
A boy finds himself falling off the edge of a school building.
When he comes to, he finds himself in the infirmary, accompanied by a girl in a student's uniform, the same girl responsible for the accident involving him and a long freefall to the ground. He realizes that he survived the fall and, having fully recovered, follows the girl back to the rooftop.
The girl tells him that he is now in the afterlife. He then recollects on his final moments before passing; he met his end when he was involved in a vehicular accident. He also remembers being led by a girl who introduced herself as the Student Council President into the school, where he attends a class in which he was unexpectedly part of.
He later turns to the girl he just met, and she explains how the world is a mix of humans like him and her and "non-humans" who do not show even a slight hint of surprise when he joins the class. Also, he ends up finding out the possibility of a "God" which she also points out.
The newcomer finally introduces himself as Hinata, while the girl tells her name, Yuri. Hinata doesn't like her true name as it reminds him of his mother, so he gives her a nickname: Yurippe.
With the introductions sorted out, Yuri goes directly to her mission, to lure God out, by asking Hinata to join her in killing the rest of the student population. Shocked at her proposition, Hinata tries to negotiate to her to change her mind, but ends up with the task of thinking of another plan to fulfill her—now their—mission. Their discussion comes to an abrupt halt when the Student Council President appears behind them.
The seemingly familiar girl with white hair reminds them of the class schedule; meanwhile, Yuri dares Hinata to do something to the Student Council President. As he wants to avoid bloodshed, he tries to ask questions about God. The conversation becomes too bland between the two of them, so he shifts the topic to romance, where he is awarded with a painful kick by Yuri.
Evening has arrived and Hinata finds himself in the infirmary once again, and he gets scolded by Yuri for his fondness to flirt with girls. Hinata defends himself, but ends up sweet-talking his way to Yuri. Nonetheless, Yuri proposes that they become partners in her mission to seek God and Hinata agrees.
He soon notices that he feels hungry. Yuri tells him that food is available in the school cafeteria but is not for free except for available food coupons at the office. Yuri tells that it might be just a hassle, so she lends him a few coupons before they head off to the cafeteria.
While Hinata shows his amazement at the realism the food has, Yuri comments on his seemingly shallow sense of content. She explains that contentment is the key to Nirvana and when one attains it, he or she leaves this world and that this world is created solely for that purpose.
After their dinner, Hinata wonders about their accommodations for the night. Yuri tells him that he will end up sleeping with another student in a room among others in the dormitories situated inside the school complex. She also tells him that she kicked out her roommate upon finding out that it was "not human". After Yuri points him to his destination, she and Hinata part ways, heading off to the male dormitory.
He finds his room with his name and the name "Ooyama" on the name tags. Upon entering, he is greeted by his roommate, whom he describes as an NPC on an RPG: bearing no special features, lacking in personality and by-the-book.
Hinata takes the chance to talk with his new roommate despite his concerns, and notices his friendliness, despite not being as "human" as Yuri has portrayed.
The next day, Hinata meets up with Yuri with enthusiasm. He turns to her as the only human around, much to Yuri's disgust, and tells her how creepy his roommate was. After Yuri's reminder to never show his clinginess to her, she goes to Hinata for ideas on how to lure God. Hinata fails to submit any new ideas and he gets scolded for it. Their meeting is put on hold when they hear the announcement broadcast. Yuri takes the chance and she takes Hinata to investigate.
On their way to the faculty room, they hear something out of place from the school's usual sounds: the sound of a gunshot. Yuri appears to be pleased at the sound and tells a confused Hinata that a gun has been created. Though Hinata thinks of gunshots as something dangerous, Yuri tells him that guns would be an effective weapon for their mission. Seemingly unmoved by the chaos, Yuri takes Hinata closer to the source of the gunshot.
Chapter 1: A Rocket for Two
A boy finds himself falling off the edge of a school building.
When he comes to, he finds himself in the infirmary, accompanied by a girl in a student's uniform, the same girl responsible for the accident involving him and a long freefall to the ground. He realizes that he survived the fall and, having fully recovered, follows the girl back to the rooftop.
The girl tells him that he is now in the afterlife. He then recollects on his final moments before passing; he met his end when he was involved in a vehicular accident. He also remembers being led by a girl who introduced herself as the Student Council President into the school, where he attends a class in which he was unexpectedly part of.
He later turns to the girl he just met, and she explains how the world is a mix of humans like him and her and "non-humans" who do not show even a slight hint of surprise when he joins the class. Also, he ends up finding out the possibility of a "God" which she also points out.
The newcomer finally introduces himself as Hinata, while the girl tells her name, Yuri. Hinata doesn't like her true name as it reminds him of his mother, so he gives her a nickname: Yurippe.
With the introductions sorted out, Yuri goes directly to her mission, to lure God out, by asking Hinata to join her in killing the rest of the student population. Shocked at her proposition, Hinata tries to negotiate to her to change her mind, but ends up with the task of thinking of another plan to fulfill her—now their—mission. Their discussion comes to an abrupt halt when the Student Council President appears behind them.
The seemingly familiar girl with white hair reminds them of the class schedule; meanwhile, Yuri dares Hinata to do something to the Student Council President. As he wants to avoid bloodshed, he tries to ask questions about God. The conversation becomes too bland between the two of them, so he shifts the topic to romance, where he is awarded with a painful kick by Yuri.
Evening has arrived and Hinata finds himself in the infirmary once again, and he gets scolded by Yuri for his fondness to flirt with girls. Hinata defends himself, but ends up sweet-talking his way to Yuri. Nonetheless, Yuri proposes that they become partners in her mission to seek God and Hinata agrees.
He soon notices that he feels hungry. Yuri tells him that food is available in the school cafeteria but is not for free except for available food coupons at the office. Yuri tells that it might be just a hassle, so she lends him a few coupons before they head off to the cafeteria.
While Hinata shows his amazement at the realism the food has, Yuri comments on his seemingly shallow sense of content. She explains that contentment is the key to Nirvana and when one attains it, he or she leaves this world and that this world is created solely for that purpose.
